Fallen Trees
Contact the Shire office on 9889 1006 and provide the location of the fallen tree with the road name and a distance along the road or nearest intersection. You can assist the Shire by removing the tree yourself but only if it is completely safe to do so, if you believe there is a risk to yourself then contact the office immediatley and the works crew will be sent to remove the tree.
While some trees will require to be cut up to be removed from the road, and in some cases it will require a loader and truck to do this, a lot of fallen tree reports are only small branches that can be dragged off the road surface and removed at a later date.
Do not try and remove fallen trees and branches from the road if:
- there is poor visibility, i.e. someone driving along may not see you on the road and an accident occuring.
- The limb or tree itself is difficult to move and cause yourself personal injury or strains
- There has been power lines bought down with the branch falling. Contact Western Power immediatley if this happens.
Pot Hole Repairs
Contact the Shire office on 9889 1006 and provide as much detail as possible about the problem and location of potholes, include information such as road name, distance from nearest intersecting road or location number, lot number or house number of property it is near. This information will be then passed on the shire's works crew for attention.
The work will not always be carried out immediately unless it is in the opinion of the works staff it an immediate danger. Often the work will be programmed to occur with other maintenance work occuring in the area.
Crossovers
The portion of the driveway between the front boundary of your property and the road carriageway is known as the crossover. The location relative to boundaries and street corners is important.
Prior to a crossover being constructed, it is important to contact the Works Supervisor to confirm the details of any requirements. Within urban areas, brick paving and concrete can be used.
