The team at Soul Highway are pleased to announce the line up for the second installment of our annual flagship event in Western Australia; THE WAVE ROCK WEEKENDER, on the edge of the desert in Hyden!
Making the trek to the WAVE ROCK WEEKENDER this year will be none other Australian, singer/songwriter MIA DYSON, AMP Award winners THE DRONES, KATALYST, SNOWMAN, C.W. STONEKING, HERMITUDE, ROCCO DELUCA (US), EARTHLINK SOUND SYSTEM, WHITLEY, JESS MCAVOY, LITTLE ORGAN TRIO & DALLAS FRASCA, while returning to the campsite for their second year in a row will be the unmissable SUNSHINE BROTHERS, DAY OF THE DEAD and ABBE MAY, this time with her band THE ROCKIN PNEUMONIA.
It is important to us that we program acts that understand what the WAVE ROCK WEEKENDER is all about. The reason they come along is because they like the opportunity to play to discerning people in an inspirational location and they support our environmental and artistic vision. Make sure you let them know how much you appreciate them making the effort......these are artists not pretenders.
Saturday’s line up starts after we open the event with the AFL Grand Final telecast and is cerebral music played for you and not at you that will help you settle in to the weird and wonderful terrain around the rock. Blues, roots, rock, pop, art-rock, country music and more.
This is no English country garden festival or sports oval event….this is a weekend long experience on the edge of the desert in Western Australia; prehistoric rock formations, eerie salt plains, shiny salmon gums, wildflowers and big, big sky.
Let the music bring it alive.
On Sunday we build up from Saturday’s inspirational artistic base to ramp up into a party to end all parties.
We start nice and easy with soloists to gently tug you in from the surrounding camp areas into what feels like the greatest Sunday session on earth and roll through soul, blues, roots, dub and reggae to beats, breaks, hip-hop and more.

WHAT IS IT
Soul Highway are psyched to be able to present the second installment of our annual flagship event in Western Australia; THE WAVE ROCK WEEKENDER.
Yes. Head directly inland for 4 hours to the edge of the desert to the town of Hyden; home of the ancient and powerful rock formation of Wave Rock and underneath it you’ll find one of the greatest weekends of the year.
For those who haven't picked up on the incredible vibe from last year - it is an event that that offers an authentic all-weekend, long-weekend experience that combines unique location, a tiny capacity (800), camping, friends, food, freedom, music, film, the AFL grand Final Telecast and the highest quality talent.
Free yourself of all responsibilities and planning and let the Soul Highway team take you to a wild and wonderful location to spend 48 hours with a selection of around 20 fantastic artists covering blues, folk, art-rock, country, reggae, hip-hop, world music, pop, funk, electro and rock and roll.
Our only programming rule is that artists get it, they are damn good and they are about heart and not the charts!
The event also features a 24 hour cinema program, 24 hour food, a 50m round & 6m deep therapeutic salt pond where you can float like a cork without moving a muscle.
We use the caravan park below Wave Rock for our event site so it isn't a tough, under-serviced camping set-up …..it’s sweet as a pea.
There are loads of toilets, showers, laundry and cooking facilities and access to power, water and a kiosk for supplies.
Town is only 2 minutes away if you need shops and our staff will do a run to the shops for you.
OUR ENVIRONMENT POLICY
Most festivals in Australia that claim 'carbon neutral' do not offset emissions for artists, suppliers and patrons travel which is actually where the bulk of emissions come from.
At WAVE ROCK WEEKENDER we are one of the only festivals that do and we are proud of it!
It is our aim to be the best performing festival in Australia in terms of Waste Recovery and Comprehensive emissions reduction and neutralization.
Our main focus initially is to minimize waste and emissions and then we seek to do our best in terms of recovery and offset.
TICKETS
You can only buy tickets to the WAVE ROCK WEEKENDER from our website. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday 27 August and are on sale now to last year’s members/patrons. If you check out www.soulhighway.com.au - this is where we’ll walk you through the complete entry, travel and accommodation options to make sure that having a great time is easy for every single one of you.
This also helps us properly track how everyone is traveling which allows us to accurately calculate emissions for our carbon offset.
Soul Highway ticket buyers for each of our events become a lifetime members with first pick of tickets for the same events every single year until the end of time.

Soul Highway, producers of the WAVE ROCK WEEKENDER, are all about building great events for great people. Intimate, soulful, inspiring events for artists, patrons and staff that get it that we can all look forward to every year.
Sure, all of our team like to go out and strap one on a couple of times a week like the best of them when there is something interesting to do - but experiences like Wave Rock are designed to get you the hell out of dodge and take you on an adventure that connect you properly with friends, music, cinema and like minded people in intimate and inspirational locations.
